Day 1 : PARO AIRPORT – THIMPHU
On arrival at New Paro Airport, you will be greeted by our official and transferred to Thimphu which lies at an elevation of 2300m. Thimphu lies in a beautiful valley, sprawling up a hillside on the west bank of the Thimphu CHHU River and has a total area of about 1809 sq. kms. Evening at your own leisure. Overnight stay at Thimphu.
Day 2 : THIMPHU SIGHTSEEING
After breakfast go for morning sightseeing- visit the Indigenous hospital where traditional old art of healing is still practiced, Art & craft School, National Library, royal goldsmith workshop and handicraft centers. Have a sumptuous lunch. In the afternoon visit the Memorial Chorten built in the memory of the late king Jigme Dorji Wang chuck, 15th century. Changangkha monastery, Motithang mini zoo to see the rare “Takin” national animal of Bhutan and drive further down with good view of the Thimphu Valley. Visit the new Drupthob nunnery temple. Evening at your own leisure. Overnight in Thimphu.
Day 3 : THIMPHU - PUNAKHA VIA DOCHULA PASS ( 75 Km, 3 hours drive)
After early Breakfast, check out from Hotel & Transfer Wangduephodrang, (70 Kms/2hrs), with a stop en route for tea at Dochu LA pass (3,100 meters), where on a clear day you can get spectacular views of the Himalayans. In Wangdue, stop at Mehsina village & visit Chime lhakhang – the Temple of fertility built in 15th century by Lama Drukpa Kinley. (This monk is popularly known as the Divine Madman for his philosophy, “Salvation through Sex”), Chendebji chorten, Wangduephodrang Dzong, Phobjikhs valley on the same slope overlooking the valley is the Gangtey Gompa. Have your lunch in your way at restaurant and in afternoon drive to Punakha, the former capital of Bhutan, and visit Punakha Dzong, which is noteworthy both for being one of the most beautiful dzongs in Bhutan and also for having been built by the first Shabdrung in 1937. Overnight in Punakha.
Day 4 : PUNAKHA/WANGDUE – BUMTHANG (205KM/ 7 HRS )
Today early morning we depart for central Bhutan through the tropical vegetation to Nobding. Throughout your trip you will come across the beautiful sceneries of rural Bhutan, with scattered settlements far from the road. We drive about an hour towards Pelela pass (11,000ft) and retrace our Steps and take a road that heads to Gangtey Gompa over Tashi La pass. Descend about an hour to Phobjikha Valley. It is a wide open valley, where Gangtey Gompa is ideally located on a hill over looking the valley. It is the winter habitat for the Black necked cranes migrating from Tibet early November till mid March. Gangtey Gompa is institute for monks following the Nyingmapa sect in the country. After visiting the monastery we drive back over the Pelela pass. Descend through the open meadows and valley of yak herders and several villages via Chendeji Chorten built in a form of Nepalese style in 15th century. Picnic lunch will be served enroute or at the restaurant at Chendebji. We drive for another 2 hours passing through several villages like Tsangkha, Tashicholing. Enroute stop at the viewpoint of Trongsa Dzong. Continue drive to Bumthang. Dinner and stay overnight at hotel in Bumthang.
Day 5 : BUMTHANG SIGHTSEEING
Bumthang is justifiably regarded as Bhutan's cultural heartland where the landscape is dotted with palaces, ancient temples and monasteries. We will take the whole day to explore the Bumthang valley by visiting the grand Kurje Lhakhang, Jambey Lhakang, Tamshing Lhakhang and Jakar Dzong, the administrative center of Bumthang. After that we lead you to stroll in the village and have a close contact with the local people and visit a local handicraft shop. In the afternoon, do a short hike to the Lhodrak Kharchhu Monastery, a remarkable Tibetan Buddhist monastery. Overnight stay.
Day 6 : BUMTHANG TO PUNAKHA
After breakfast transfer to Punakha (210km, Approx. 7 hrs). This is a scenic drive, passing many small villages, waterfalls with spectacular landscape, crossing Black mountains, the ever-changing vegetation and finally arriving in the warm valley of Punakha. As the valley is at a lower elevation of about 1250m (4100 ft.) above sea level, it enjoys subtropical climate with warm summers and pleasant winters. After a short rest at the hotel, we guide you to today's highlight - Punakha Dzong. It is a very beautiful Bhutanese architecture located at the confluence of Pho Chu and Mo Chu rivers. Overnight stay at Punakha.
Day 7 : PUNAKHA - PARO
After Breakfast, check out from Hotel & Transfer to Paro. Paro is Destination of Scenic beauty, the only International airport of Bhutan in Paro. It has a population of 39,800 (which is approx 1 and half hours/65 KM from Thimphu). – visit the historic ruins of the Drukgyal Dzong, built in 1647. Paro’s Main street features shops on both sides, all crammed with brasswares, silk and cotton scarves, incense sticks, silver filigree jewellery, gho (Bhutanese National Dress for Men) which can be matched with elaborately embroidered boots, kira (wrap-around sarong worn for Bhutanese Women) and prayer flags that one could string across any open space to seek blessings for loved ones and friends. Evening at your own leisure. Overnight in Paro.
Day 8 : PARO SIGHTSEEING
After Breakfast: Visit -1) View of Taktshang Monastery ( or hike for 6 -7 hrs ), 2) Kichulanka Monastery, 3) Ta Dzong, 4) Paro Rinpung Dzong (Museum). In Evening: Stroll Through the Market of Paro & Overnight Stay in Paro.
Day 9 : EXCURSION TO CHELE LA PASS & HAA VALLEY
After Breakfast: Excursion to Chele La (Pass) & Haa Valley Only (Border of the Bhutan and China): At an elevation 3,988 meters is considered to be one of the highest motorable passes in Bhutan. About an hour's drive along a thickly-forested road, is this Pass-a botanical paradise. The pass provides stunning views of the sacred mountain Jhomolhari and Jichu Drake. It is also marked by hundreds of prayer flags fluttering in the wind. Here, visitors can see cascades of wild roses; purple and yellow primulas; and swathes of deep blue iris covering the forest floor. The top of the pass bloom with rhododendrons in a variety of colors-pale pink, deep pink, burnt orange, mauve, white and scarlet. In Evening: Stroll Through the Market of Paro & Overnight Stay at Paro.
Day 10 : TRANSFER TO PARO AIRPORT
After breakfast check out from Hotel and proceeds to Paro Airport for your onwards journey.
